James A. Ruggieri joined Higgins, Cavanagh & Cooney as an associate in the Summer of 1984. He has been a partner in the firm since 1990. Mr. Ruggieri concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance coverage litigation, employment litigation, transportation litigation and product liability.

Mr. Ruggieri is a frequent lecturer on trial and litigation matters for various organizations including the National Business Institute and Lorman Business Services. He is a former law clerk to the Honorable Florence K. Murray, Rhode Island Supreme Court and to the justices of the Rhode Island Superior Court.

Mr. Ruggieri obtained his undergraduate degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He is a graduate of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Ruggieri is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, American Bar Association, The United States District Courts for the District of Rhode Island and the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He is also a member of the Federal Bench/Bar Committee for the Rhode Island Bar Association. Mr. Ruggieri has successfully completed the Practical Transportation Training Institute for Litigation Attorneys conducted at the Mayflower Training Center for Drivers.
